Wrapping our Sixth GOSCON

For the sixth instance of our Government Open Source Conference, we experimented with several new ways to bring information about the intersection of Open Source and government to the public. We proudly kicked off the conversations by hosting OpenGovWest's Open Data Summit directly preceding the conference. We held our first Executive Open Data Roundtable on the State of Open Government and hosted the world's first ever IgniteGov. We also live streamed the conference content so those not present could benefit from the program content.

We're excited to say that all these experiments met with resounding success. We had live stream viewers from as far afield as Chile, Portugal and South Africa while we welcomed attendees in Portland from all over the United States and from Ireland, Japan, Spain and the United Kingdom.  We were thrilled to absolutely pack the ballroom at the Nines Hotel for IgniteGov. We were also pleased to host the first Open Source for America Awards and once again extend our heartiest congratulations to their award winners and the people and agencies we honored with our own 2nd Annual Open Source in Government Awards.

Ignite Gov was great! Nice job @goscon & @unclenate & @selenamarieless than a minute ago via web

We'll be updating the conference website over the next few weeks with all the program content: slide decks, videos from most sessions and further post-event wrap up reports with information from our attendees about what they learned and found most useful from GOSCON 2010. A gentle reminder to all of our attendees: we'll be emailing you in the next few days with our post-event survey. Please fill it out as soon as you can. As usual, attendees who complete the survey receive first access to our conference materials online. And don't forget that the first ten folks to return the survey receive a free copy of either Open Government or Slideology.

We have many people to thank for a successful GOSCON this year. Thanks first and foremost to all of our sponsors, particularly our Diamond Sponsor Accenture. Thanks also to our Media Sponsor, Open Affairs, for live streaming the conference and capturing the sessions on video. Many thanks to all of our speakers for sharing their insights, lessons learned and candid feedback on powering government agencies with Open Source software. And finally, we thank all our attendees and the great people from city, county, state and federal government that shaped great conversations throughout the three days of events.

Check back soon for further news from the conference, or follow @goscon on Twitter to keep abreast of our latest announcements.

@debbryant thanks for bringing us to this beautiful city for #goscon. I think #gt needs an office here. I'll voulnteer.less than a minute ago via TweetDeck
